1930-1950s New Holland Machine Company foundry - This is a cupola furnace and he is probably getting ready to tap the molten cast iron. Date is based on photo content of both photos. The ladle is in the foreground and it looks like he is standing beside the furnace spout. The ladle would be lowered into a well in front of the melting furnace so the furnace fills it with molten metal. The outlet for the furnace, inside the spout, is plugged with refractory and the steel bar in his hands is what he uses to smash the refractory out of that opening.

1930-1950's New Holland Machine Company foundry - They are pouring the molten cast iron from a ladle into the moulds. A knowledgeable person provided a date suggestion: "The hats...specifically the ones that look like a cross between a ball cap and engineer's cap. Fedora's and suspenders have been around for some time. The ladle seems to be of 30s or 40s vintage, I found a picture of the exact same ladle taken in 1942 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Given the style of caps, the hoist and the safety glasses (they have arms) I would guess 1950s with a fair amount of confidence...". The two lines on the right are crane controls that the white t-shirt man is holding. The moulds are small thus making small parts.
